SBV6220 & Blackcat Problem

So I have a blackcat usb with a 3M SOTC 16 Pin clip. I never flashed anything before.

The blackcat successfully flashed a 5101 after many tries but when the time came with the 6220, I'm having a lot of problems. First off I tried flashing it and the sbv6220 won't come on now, not even a light. Some say it may be burnt, some says it's a bad flash, I should try a 2mb dump.

So now I'm trying to flash it back and here's what it always says:

Do you think it's a modem problem or a problem with the blackcat?

Too me this looks like a connection problem between your bcusb and your device.

What SPI Flash is on the device , and are you powering the chip from an external 3v source or are you using an ISP point ?

I've tried both bcusb.1.06.sp1.hex & bcusb.1.09.sp1.hex

And I have a 3MSOTC Clip alone. and like I mentioned, the device won't turn on, so it's not powered by anything.

Right as the device is not being powered normally , I take it you are not using an ISP point, in which case you have to get 3v to pin 2 of the spi flash , making sure if you power it this way that you DO NOT have the normal power supply plugged in.
Only use 1.09 SPI as that is the latest firmware for SPI mode.

As this is my first time flashing a modem, can you tell me what you meant by 3v to pin 2?

This is what I'm using: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120753248687?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

So you'll get a better understanding of what I'm saying

That specific clip was designed for ISP use , what you need to do is find pin2 on the clip and then apply an external 3v or 5v power source to it . You can cut up an old usb lead and use the 5v from that to power pin2 ,,, pin2 is easily identified on the SPI flash as it is next to the one with the dot on it ,, if in doubt google the datasheet of the flash and look at the layout of the chip and identify the VCC pin.

My Soic slip doesn't have any dot on it.

can we pick up where he left off? i have the same issue and have made sure my connections were good. pin out chart attached. it just keeps reading no flash found with all zero's. i turned the cable around and ran into no spi device found. i know i am missing something simple but i just can't see it. i even tried to go from 1 pin on the BCUSB to the pin number s on the flash chip. i can see my dot lol.

Ok just a few questions to make sure we are on the same page.
1. You are working on a SB6120 and NOT a SBV6220 correct?
2. Your pinout is as according to the layout in the BCUSB manual for SPI , correct ? ( Reason i ask is that your numbering is back to front)
3. When you power the modem on with BCUSB connected are any LED's visable on the modem or are they all off ?

EDIT: Scrap this , just saw you made a new thread.

how do i connect blackcat usb to sbv6220 like how do i put the chip in i have a 10 pron chip like a pic to show me how or something

This device should have a SPI flash chip , the connection to this chip is the same as any other SPI chip , there is a schematic in the documentation folder regarding the connection

i have a spi chip it has 10 post but where the spot on the modem is there are 14 hole how do i no what one to put them in

You have to connect direct to the chip , there is no support for and jtag pinouts at present

what 10 pin chip are you talking about ? SPI chips come in two flavours SOIC-16 and SOIC-8 there is no 10 pin
