3M SOIC BLACKCAT USB SPI 16WAY TEST CLIP ISP SB6120

Can you post pictures of your connection to the modem ?
Strip a USB lead , connect it to your PC and with a multimeter find the cable that has 5v on it (normally the red one) , and that is the one that is connected to the VCC pin on the modem's chip.

if i connect external usb lead, should i disconnect the cable power supply and pin that goes to r362 from the modem completely?

Applying power to the vcc pin does not require the ISP to be connected

thanks, but how do you run the extra cable to existing clip, you have to somehow connect that usb lead it to the clip, how do u do that?

If your clip has issues , you are wasting your time trying to get a detection with an external power source.
You need to bypass the clip and solder direct .

If using 5v to Pin 2 then you do not use modems power supply,as previously stated!!

How is that possable if you were just using ext 5v ? You will have to supply pictures of your setup so i can see what you are doing wrong.
