hello all, i have a linksys wrt160n v2 with the Ralink chipset, I have bricked the router and have been looking for a diagram for the serial and jtag ports in the routers pcb, i have found a page that says it has a 5 pin serial port as well as a jtag port, but im not sure what traces are what, im at work at the moment, but i can take a pic of the PCB and upload it to this post when i get home. This is the page i was talking about

thanks in advance for any info on this

i was able to locate a pic of the PCB on another wiki, here is the link to the pic

here is a pic of the PCB, i have marked the location of the serial and jtag ports, but im not sure what pins to use on the jtag port, can anyone help me figure out what pins i need to connect to this port ?

OK, i got the wires soldered up to the routers jtag port, i made sure to check my connections, on a 14-pin jtag there is 3 GND ports, i have the flashcatusb GND pin soldered to the #12 pin on the router, flashcatUSB console reads :

Initializing EJTAG engine
Device connected in JTAG mode: 7.06
Error connecting to target board
do i need to ground all 3 GND points on the PCB to get this to work ?

I doubt this particular CPU chipset works with FCUSB , i am trying to get hold of the developer to establish if it is or isn't.
If you have bricked this , i suspect your best way of reviving it will be using the serial port , see if you have any output coming from there.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to connect via serial and the output via minicom isnt working like it should. It looks as if the flash has been currupt. Do you know if jtag is supported will be able to format the flash and reinstall the uboot boot loader and the factory flash rom ? Or does the jtag port require some instructions from the firmware to control it ?

If the CPU chipset is/gets supported by FCUSB then all you will need is to load the new U-boot then you would be able to serial flash this device. As soon as i hear back from the developer i will post here.

Spoke with the developer and he mentioned that he doubts there is support for it and at this moment in time he will not be adding anymore development to the current FCUSB.
