HP Motherboard

The Bios chip is normally in close proximity to the Pin header , you should be able to follow the traces from the header to the Chip.

Found it, it was under the WiFi card. I have a hard time reading the chip, there is a V written on it in what looks like black sharpie. It will not come off with rubbing alcohol. With good light, and a magnifing glass this is what I believe it says. What should I be looking for when I'm following the traces, I've got nothing to compare it to.

Winbond
250328
108

If you follow the legs of the chip can you see to what pin each one goes on the header.
I am just trying to locate the datasheet of that specific chip to see what the JEDEC ID should be .

When you had the device connected to BCUSB as per your earlier screenshot , could you post what was in the console tab ?

D3m0n!

I ordered in a replacement board and looked at the BIOS chip on the replacement motherboard. I was able to read this one.

MXIC MX
25L3206E
M2I-12G
3F436600
Lt10876

That is everything written on the chip, it seems to be a different chip that the bricked motherboard. Same size and everything though.

Are these screenshots from the new motherboard SPI or the bricked one ? I have spoke to the developer and he says that specific chip is supported , so we need to get a proper detection on it before programming

The screenshots are from the old motherboard. The BIOS chip info I gave you is for the new motherboard. The chips look identical.

Have you traced the points on the header to the Chip yet ? Easiest way to do it is to buzz them out with a multimeter. Once we know we have the correct layout , we can try determine why it wont detect the chip

I believe this is what you wanted. The numbers on each pin are related to the HP Pin on the motherboard.

Is this sufficient? I've never had to draw it out before.

You may need to find the exact part number for the winbond chip, and then you need to find the datasheet. Besides having the correct connection, you need to see if the chip supports the READ ID command.

I cannot for the life of me read it. It's scratched out.

I posted the information on the chip on other motherboard. Would that be sufficient?

The specific chip ID is required as it will tell us if it is supported or not.
I have checked the pin out you supplied and all seems well

BC HP

3 7
5 3
7 5
9 6
10 8

Make sure it is well grounded and see if you still get the same result on detection. Also do you get the same result on 3v and 5v setting on the BCUSB ?
