Bricked sb5100

Do you get the 00 with the latest 7.01 firmware using build300 as well ? If so there is a possability that you have a faulty BCUSB .
 
if i turn round my lead the way you show on the picture the red power led lights up without usb cable connected but if i leave it the way i show in pic 1 it is not until i power bcusb with usb lead
hope this helps. so far i have downloaded all software that i can find and 281 seems to find 00 best
 
Yes that would be the correct way you have the lead , if you get the red led whilst connected to the modem , the led is not as bright until you connect the usb lead correct ??

When you go into DFU mode to upgrade the firmware , what chip does it show as having on the device the AT90USB162 or the Atmega32U2 ?
 
Ok so you have the newer version , now what firmware versions of 7.01 have you tried , both 32k and 16k versions ?

Also just out of curiosity , do you have net framework 4 installed when using build300 ?
 
yes to both questions net frameworks was downloaded from the link on your site and tried fws 6.01,6.03 and 7.01 both 16k and 32k with older software i can get connected to 00 but lates sw and fw its nothing detected. i would have thought if bcusb was faulty i wouldnt connect to pc or wouldnt load hex files.im lost lol
 
It is possable the bcusb is faulty , as i said before i have had some that worked only on SPI and ejtag part was faulty , but without actually having the bcusb to test it is hard to say

well what can i say but just AMAZING cant thank you enough for the great service you provided i recieved bcusb at 10.20am thanks a million mate your a star. ok now for my problem lol, yes there is always one haha, worked first time with my 4200 and sigma installed first time, is the jtag same on my 5100 as it wont connect which ever way i connect the lead so maybe i have a bad joint on my soldering or is it different

Jtag should be the same for all models , if it connects to your 4200 no problem and not the 5100 , could possably be a bad solder joint on the 5100. What do you get in console tab ?
 
same as before error connecting, using newest build and 7.02, i know bcusb is fine as ive a neighbour who brought me a webstar 2100 and connects fine, strange as it detected it as a 5101 lol, with bcusb i may have damaged the pcb as i have removed and replaced jtag header a few times now, trying to get the bcusb to work
will check out my soldering again tomorrow

The Webstar will be detected as a 5101 as it has a BCM3349 same as the 5101 , but if you unload the script and reload the 2100 which should be in the dropdown , it should load the proper script.
It does sound like the solder points /jtag header is the issue on the 5100 , lets hope they are not too damaged in order to get a detection.
